Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I have enjoyed working with clients in the Simi Valley area for over 14 years. I believe that people change first and foremost because they want to and feel they can change. Change is possible when the environment is safe and the relationship with a well trained professional is strong and supportive. The therapeutic process should include opportunities to acknowledge and develop our strengths and resources, develop new skills, and develop an understanding of ourselves and the people in our lives. I specialize in working with adults and children who may have had a traumatic experience in life or are currently experiencing anxiety or depression. I am a Somatic Experience Trained Practitioner and have training in EMDR. Additionally, I am a Registered Play Therapist and work with children and their parents to deal with problem behaviors and difficult symptoms. When I work with clients I want them to feel that change is possible and I encourage my clients to notice what has worked in their lives so far. I bring to the counseling relationship considerable life experience, specialized training, and a compassionate heart.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
