Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over fourteen years experience treating children, individuals, couples, and families who are working on issues such as depression, anxiety, learning disabilities, post traumatic disorders, chronic pain and illness, eating disorders, marital and parenting problems, and life transitions.

I have worked in various settings including Sanctuary House, Cal. State Northridge, Girl’s Incorporated, Institute of Behavioral Medicine, Santa Barbara Counseling Center, Sojourn – Children Services Division, and in Private Practice.

The areas I specialize in are: working with children and adolescents, mood disorders, trauma, and chronic illness/pain.

Through a variety of therapeutic modalities, including talk, play, and art therapy, sand tray, and dream work using a Family Systems/Cognitive Therapy approach, I am able to help people make changes in their thoughts, feelings, and thus behaviors that allow them to move forward in their lives in more positive directions.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
