Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My work is devoted to helping others explore and resolve conflicts that prevent them from experiencing more fulfilling lives. In my 20 years of private practice experience, I have become acutely aware of how people fall prey to ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving that inhibit their capacity to fully engage in their lives. I also understand how painful life experiences and traumas reverberate through one’s life causing constrictive states of suffering that include depression, anxiety, personal emptiness, and feelings of instability in the self. I work with individuals to untangle these patterns and connect with the parts of their selves that promote healing and expansion. In addition, I work with couples and families to adjust and heal rifts that result from unproductive and conflictual communication styles. My therapeutic orientation integrates Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy with Self Psychology and Psychodynamic approaches. Most importantly, not believing in a “one size fits all” paradigm, I take great care to tailor my approach to the specific needs of clients and to consider each session as a unique opportunity to address what is most important in a person’s experience.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
