Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Do you feel like no one "gets" you? Maybe you're overwhelmed with feelings of anxiety, fear, sadness, confusion, resentment or shame? Does your relationship feel difficult or are you wondering why you can't seem to find a relationship that works for you? Maybe you're in a crisis and need some support and help to find your way through it. Whether you are looking for longer-term, self-growth and awareness therapy or shorter-term crisis or situational help, I am here to support you and help you find your way forward. Many of my clients are intelligent, creative, and somewhat unconventional people who are simply stuck in some way. Let me help empower you with tools to get you unstuck and back into balance. I can help you find a greater sense of clarity and calm about your life and your relationships, as well as help you be more assertive and communicate more effectively. My approach to therapy is holistic and creative, incorporating mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, interpersonal process, and the mind/body connection. I will support you and gently challenge you in finding and using your unique strengths and gifts to overcome the obstacles holding you back and getting in your way. My therapeutic style is warm, direct, engaging, and nonjudgmental. My clients are often surprised to learn that laughter and humor is encouraged and welcome. I create a safe environment where growth and change can and will occur. I enjoy working with adults, couples, and teens. LGBTQ-affirming and welcoming.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
