Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Leigh Lightfoot combines thirty years professional experience teaching theater and movement arts with her work as a therapist and teacher of psychology. She is a graduate of UC Berkeley, has a MFA in Dance from Mills College, and a MA in Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies Somatics Program. She offers both short-term counseling and long-term depth work, weaving psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioral, and somatics approaches with guided imagery, sensory focus, and creative and meditative techniques. She is additionally influenced by Jungian perspectives which support exploration of personal narratives and collective myths, stories and symbols; and by multi-cultural spiritual and healing traditions. Her specializations include work with anxiety, grief, and depression; sexual abuse and trauma recovery; couples and family counseling; adolescents; personal development; life transitions; health support; and mind/body integration.
