Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Leroy is a graduate of San Francisco State College, San Francisco Theological Seminary and the University of San Francisco. He is trained in the use of Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Hypnotherapy. He sees his work with groups, families, couples and individuals as resembling that of a midwife helping individuals to free up their potential to become more fully that unique person they were created to be. He believes that in all circumstances we have the opportunity to bring forth greater life out of lesser life as the old within us dies away and the new is born. With these beliefs and to this end, he works with persons experiencing bereavement, life threatening illness, sexual abuse, domestic violence, depresion and the effects of suicide in the family. He deals with issues of child custody, self-esteem, spiritual and emotional growth, intimacy, men's support groups and parenting education. In his role of a spiritual guide as well as counselor he has been a chaplain with Doctors Medical Center and Community Hospice in Modesto.

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
