Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have helped clients liberate themselves from life's contradictions and paradoxes. I help clients understand their childhood patterns of thoughts and actions that make them unhappy. I help my client's see the interaction between the mind, body and spirit. Consequently, I stress how diet, exercise, and meditation reduce the stressors in life. I use different approaches to help my various clients. However, I strongly favor the "Cognitive-Behavioral" approach. Faulty thinking patterns are molded from childhood experiences. Utilizing the Cognitive-Behavioral approach, together we change the negative thoughts that often control behavior. By using new thought patterns as well as new coping behavioral strategies the client decreases if not eliminates harmful feelings and behaviors that make them unhappy, experience low self-esteem or anxiety. The C.B. approach has been highly effective for anxiety and depression. I have counseled physically and learning disabled college students for over 25 years. I am also fluent in American Sign Language.
