Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
You may be looking for therapy because of overwhelming emotions, self-criticism, or a life challenge. Or you may be a parent whose child or teen is struggling in spite of the help you have tried to provide on your own. I might be the right fit for you or your child if you are looking for a therapist who feels like a real person, is comfortable talking about topics that sometimes feel shameful, and embraces individuality. I welcome discussion of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, spirituality, social systems, and all aspects of cultural identity. I specialize in helping those with experiences of trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use and eating disorders. I am also passionate about working with adolescents as they develop their identities while managing the stresses of teen life. I use art as another language in therapy, which helps those who struggle to express feelings verbally. I use art therapy, cognitive-behavioral tools, and a humanistic style to help adults, adolescents, and children express things they've been holding in, understand their inner worlds, and shift their perspectives in a way that helps them move toward their goals.
