Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My approach to psychotherapy is based on the belief that you, the client, are the best authority on yourself. My primary goals as a therapist are to work collaboratively with you to determine treatment objectives, develop a treatment plan designed to help you achieve those objectives as quickly and effectively as possible, and empower you to know and trust your own inner strengths. Utilizing EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, psychodynamic, humanistic, and transpersonal orientations, I work to integrate those methods of treatment best suited for you. When treating an eating disorder patient, sometimes a team approach is utilized, including a nutritionist, physician, and/or psychiatrist as indicated. Every effort is made to help the motivated client to successfully recover as an outpatient in a way that is tailored to fit their specific needs. I use my extensive training and experience in trauma therapy to assist in the treatment of individual adults who were abused or neglected as children, as well as in the treatment of anxiety, phobias, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and when working with couples who have communication challenges connected to unresolved hurt from the past.
