Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been in a successful practice over 25 years. I have a new book coming out fall 2013, "The Hormone Factor in Mental Health: Bridging the Mind-body Gap" (Jessica Kingsley Publishers). I co-authored, with my daughter, Tara, "The Anorexia Diaries: Triumph of a Mother and Daughter over Teenage Eating Disorders" (Rodale Publications, 2004). In addition to my work with young children through adolescence and their families I love to work with couples, and families. I also work with those with serious, chronic illness, including Pituitary tumors and other Hormonal disorders. I have authored numerous professionally published papers, appeared on TV and radio as well as numerous public speaking engagements. I served CAMFT on the Board of Directors, The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) – California Division as President. I am also on staff with the Pituitary Network Association (PNA). My office is conveniently located just off the 101 Freeway, near the Camarillo Outlet Mall. At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
