Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Have the demands of career, marriage or parenting become overwhelming? Are you worried about your kids? Have your problems become unmanageable? Have you become more isolated, relying on substance to help you calm down and cope? When anxiety and sadness are more prevalent than hope or happiness, I can help.

My work starts by separating people from their problems. Together, we’ll examine those problems in the context of family history, relationships and today’s cultural expectations. I believe revealing what is genuinely important and meaningful to you, recognized your possibilities and strengths, and breaking down obstacles is the path to solutions.

I work with a diverse group of clients including teens, young adults, couples and families. I specialize in issues related to relationships, parenting, career stress, substance abuse, anxiety and depression (including postpartum). I also help type 1 diabetics and their families cope with the unique emotional effects of the disease.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
