Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Emotional pain, discomfort and general dissatisfaction are the greatest motivators for change and generally are what lead people to seek psychotherapy. My primary goal is to help you implement change for improved emotional and/or relationship health. My therapy approach is an eclectic blend of cognitive behavioral, attachment and family of origin theories as well as an emphasis on emotional safety as it relates to a strong relationship foundation. I also have an interest in the benefits of a mindfulness practice as well as neuroscience - how the brain can rewire itself across the life span. I help people identify what's "not working,", understand "why," work through emotional obstacles - and provide tools. My style is compassionate and down-to earth. This combined with my clients' willingness to dig deep - have led to great success in helping people resolve their individual issues and have more satisfying relationships. My other site, The Toolbox at is one of the original therapist-created sites with tools for marriage, relationship and emotional health. A frequent consultant for the media, I've appeared in numerous publications and online news sources including,, Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine and Shape Magazine.
