Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been working as a psychotherapist since 1999, and currently have a private practice in Costa Mesa. I have a sincere desire to help people cope with and overcome their hardships, achieve satisfying, harmonious relationships and personal growth.

My work experience includes Clinical Director at a domestic violence shelter, 7 years at a County-contracted children's clinic, 2 of which involved clinical supervision, working in an outpatient hospital program, a homeless shelter, and a juvenile diversion program. I have taught anger management, parenting, and self-esteem classes. My expertise includes communication, anger management, emotional regulation, depression, abuse, and divorce. My specialty is couples, marital issues, and blended families. I feel very fortunate to have the privilege of working in a career where I can give of myself to others. I have been told that I have an inborn gift to reach out and connect with people, which has been invaluable in achieving successful outcomes with my clients.

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
