I am an MFT and have an MA in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies with an Expressive Arts Therapy focus. I have an extensive background in dance and movement education.
Through my experience and passion, I enjoy working with people struggling with body image, anxiety/depression, chronic and acute illness, grief and loss and issues of co-dependence.
I view therapy as a collaborative process that develops insight, acceptance and capacity to change. I incorporate both structure and following your lead, dependent upon what is needed. I believe that the symptoms that you come in with are meaningful and part of the therapy is about discovering what they are saying. Simultaneously, some symptoms may be dangerous and need management.
I use traditional talk therapy combined with body/mindfulness and the expressive arts. I believe that the therapeutic relationship can be a vehicle for healing and have found that the arts and self-awareness techniques can be powerful tools in the therapy process.
