Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a licensed Marriage, Family and Child Psychotherapist, I have been able to assist clients (in private practice, community-based non-profit agencies and public settings) to alleviate any of their clinical symptoms and behaviors. I have worked for the Department of Children and Family Services for over ten years and have had the opportunity to develop therapeutic skills in working with diverse populations. I hold a double major in Psychology and Social Relations, as well as a Master of Science in Counseling. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, yet I like to concentrate on Cognitive/Behavioral and Solution-Focused therapies. I believe in providing a holistic, compassionate and self-empowering journey; this includes integrating mind, body, and spirit. My intention is to create a collaborative partnership that enables clients to move away from self-blame and judgment and support them in finding solutions that are in unison with their values and beliefs.

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
