Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am committed to my work with individuals, couples and families of all cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations. Honoring individual differences, I create an atmosphere in which personal discovery feels safe, encouraged and welcomed. Having worked in both in-patient as well as out-patient settings for the last 14 years, I am knowledgeable in working with individuals and families impacted by addiction, trauma and eating disorders. This includes supporting those struggling with substance abuse, sex and love addiction, codependency and disordered eating. While I am both warm and direct, I offer compassionate and effective therapy that works towards your goals and most importantly, at your own pace. Working relationally, I provide a spirit of openness, authenticity and active collaboration.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
