Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Are you feeling anxious, depressed, unable to focus? Do you struggle with relationships and have a hard time asserting yourself, knowing or asking for what you need, and/or setting appropriate boundaries? Do your feelings seem to get the betterof you sometimes and you don’t know how to regulate them? Have you experienced a recent or earlier trauma that is impacting your life but you are not sure how or why? I can help you explore these issues and more, so you can come to know yourself more deeply and make more adaptive life choices. I consider it a unique privilege to sit with clients as they work through confusion or pain or explore life patterns that no longer may serve them. I believe that healing happens together in a safe, respectful relationship, and I provide an attuned, empathic environment so together, we can explore how best to meet your goals. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist working with clients who: struggle with anxiety, stress, or depression, have experienced recent and/or developmental traumas, including intimate partner violence, sexual or physical assault, child sexual abuse, relational trauma or neglect. face challenging life transitions or stress suffer from attachment and/or affect regulation issues find themselves challenged with codependency, boundary making and assertiveness I have worked with adults, teens and children in various settings, including a domestic violence shelter, community counseling center, primary school, and Head Start as well as  in private practice.     I find counseling a heart opening pursuit both for may clients and myself and I strive to provide the most effective treatment I can. While my primary orientations are psychodynamic, attachment focused and trauma based, I use an integrated approach that draw from a variety of interventions and theories to best serve the individual needs of each client. Prior to counseling, I taught college level writing and literature for many years  and interacted with people with diverse  backgrounds and ages. I am a published poet and see writing and other creative outlets as a way to enhance the healing process ?

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Redding, CA 96001

Approximately half of Dr. Copitch's practice involves children and families. The other half is devoted to individual therapy. And, as Dr. Copitch often jokes, "the third half of my work is devoted to school consultations, business consultations, and corporate trainings."
