Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
For the past 27 years, I have worked in the rural town of Dixon, California. Our offices are located just 8 miles from the University of California, Davis and as a result, my clients range from farmers to college professors, to locals interested in improving their lives. My training and experience allows me to offer short-term therapy to individuals, couples, and groups. It is my philosophy that the essence of life is learning and growing. At times life’s challenges may leave us feeling uncertain about how to cope with new experiences. Reaching out for support from an objective listener is a natural human response. It is healthy, responsible behavior during stressful periods or times of transition. As a Gestalt therapist, I offer the safety of a supportive, nonjudgmental environment in which to resolve problems and develop coping skills. My goal is to help you create a balance between internal and external support when dealing with stressful periods. Such a balance often leads to a healthier and more productive life. I am primarily interested in assisting people through the transitional stages of life. These stages might include marriage, divorce, birth, loss, career change, retirement, and other expected events that unexpectedly disrupt the natural flow and balance of our lives. These disruptions place considerable stress not only on the individual, but their families, colleagues and on friends as well. Fees are individually arranged and are covered by most health insurance plans and Employee Assistance Programs. Please feel free to request a phone time when you can interview me as your potential therapist. My direct line is 707-301-0108.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
