Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
When looking for a therapist it is important to find someone with whom one feels safe and comfortable. When you visit my office one of the first things we will do is make a plan on what your hopes and goals are in our work together. Often one may be confused about what he or she wants in addition to support and empathy. Our work together can assist with clarifying difficult issues and learning more effective coping strategies. Whatever we decide together we can work on, one step at a time with me as your anchor. At our first session I may give you one small thing to take home with you to think about or an activity you might try. I can assist you in uncovering your strengths while healing past wounds. My work with you is based on your goals and needs.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
