Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I work with people who often find themselves feeling disconnected from primary partners, spouses, parents, siblings, friends and colleagues and who want to change that. Relationship problems in daily life often link to some very basic fears and hurts. These fears and hurts can show up as excessive worry, fears about trusting others, difficulty managing boundaries, identity questions or trouble saying what you mean. Sometimes depression or anxiety get in the way of the connected caring relationships you really want. Or you want to move ahead in your personal life or career, yet fears and hurts keep you stuck and feeling like you're constantly swimming upstream. Fears, hurts and negative beliefs about your self often are a part of PTSD ( post traumatic stress disorder). And feeling bad about who or how you are contributes to the often disabling sadness of relationship loss, break-ups, bereavement, separation and divorce. For many people, psychotherapy and counseling are a very important part of ongoing growth and change through both difficult and different life stages and life transitions. I can help you sort through and navigate those changes with more confidence and balance. My style is mindful, relational and body centered (somatic) and brings together cognitive, emotional and experiential therapies to help you create a more positive, resilient and embodied sense of who you are. Please feel free to contact me for a free phone consultation about how we might work together.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
