Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Sitting at the cross roads of life not knowing which direction to take or perhaps cemented in the very spot where we stand, seems to be where many find themselves today. With the weight of past traumas, present stress and frustrations, and future worries of what is to come upon our shoulders, we attempt to carry even more weight from our families and friends. At some point our shoulders begin to give amongst the burden that cannot be carried alone. We find ourselves in distress feeling hopeless, helpless and broken. As a therapist, it is my goal to provide a safe environment where clients have the freedom to work through their pain, fears and the unknown of what burdens them. I approach counseling from an open and honest format meeting clients where they are with genuine empathy and care. My goal is to instill hope and empowerment with each client as we walk shoulder to shoulder through your goals and needed changes. I have experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups with issues including: trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, self-injury, anger management, grief or loss, and marital/pre-marital counseling. I also have six years of experience working with adolescents in residential psychiatric treatment centers.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
