Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I’ve been in private practice since 1979 offering psychotherapy to individuals and couples. My approach is holistic-integrating mind, body, heart and spirit. I like to establish a strong foundation of trust and safety from which to explore family history, old beliefs about oneself, destructive patterns of behavior as well as the thoughts, feelings and body sensations that seem to block change and happiness. With the right commitment, insight and support, I have especially found EMDR to be an extremely powerful tool in helping to resolve trauma and moving through old stuck places. I also incorporate body awareness, journal writing and dreamwork. Each psychotherapeutic relationship I develop is unique and individualized using resources that come out of that relationship.

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
