Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I'd like you to know a little bit about my psychotherapy practice. I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents. I have a passion for couples work from a depth approach. I work with couples to facilitate deeper communication, and help them get out of destructive patterns of interacting that erode the relationship. I also do short-term/solution focused work with couples.

I have experience working with mood disorders (depression/anxiety), eating disorders, grief and loss, life transitions and self-esteem issues. I also see adolescents with issues concerning separation/individuation, and other family-related problems.

My personal style is empathic and interactive. I provide a safe, supportive environment to facilitate working through your concerns and deepening your understanding of yourself.

Feel free to e-mail me or call me if you have questions, or if you would like to set up an initial appointment.

I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
