Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I've been licensed since 1975, and have worked extensively with teens, parents, and individual adults. Working with the parents of my adolescent clients led to working with couples who are dealing with other issues, which I have found both challenging and rewarding. One of my clients referred to me as her "paid listener"; I took that as a compliment, as listening in a focused way is an important part of therapy. It is equally important to ask questions which help my clients identify their strengths and the changes they hope to make in their lives. I find people are helped through a combination of increased self-awareness and changes in the way they respond to the specific stresses in their lives.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
