Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
You're looking for a counselor because your life isn't working out the way it should. You're feeling unhappy, angry, frustrated, worried, confused or empty. Maybe you want to fix your marriage, straighten out your kids, let go of the past, learn to forgive yourself or stop repeating the same mistakes over and over. Perhaps you're questioning your spiritual beliefs or trying to figure out what it will take to truly be happy. The bottom line is this: You want to change your life, and I'm here to help you do that. Give me a call, and let's get started. As your therapist, I'll create a safe space for you to freely express your thoughts and feelings, explore options, and heal. I'll help you improve your relationships and design a life with purpose and authenticity. My specialized training in EMDR can help you resolve trauma, including lingering negative effects of a dysfunctional childhood. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a newspaper reporter and communications manager for several major corporations. This unique combination of education and experience shapes my counseling approach. My intention at all times is to be relevant, practical and transformational. Check out my website at I look forward to working with you.

About My Practice

Office Hours
Monday through Thursday - 10:00 am to 9:00 pm
I provide counseling services to individuals and couples. Most of my individual clients are seeking help to better manage their anger, anxiety, depression and/or stress. Most of the couples I work with want to communicate more clearly and effectively, resolve ongoing conflicts, repair past hurts and increase emotional intimacy. I also have begun using EMDR with many of my clients. It’s exciting to see how rapidly EMDR can help them heal longstanding distress stemming from upsetting childhood experiences, poor choices with relationships, chronic anxiety and/or depression, and the loss of a loved one.

EMDR-Eye Movement Desensitization/ Reprocessing
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of therapy that's been proven effective in helping clients heal from major traumas (e.g., acts of war, car accidents, physical attacks) as well as smaller traumas (e.g., bullying, childhood abuse or neglect, divorce, the death of a loved one). I am a Certified EMDR Therapist (certified by EMDR International Association). Domestic Violence: I have received extensive training in the treatment of domestic violence. I have facilitated court-mandated treatment groups for both men and women batterers. Child Custody Evaluations: I have received comprehensive training in high-conflict divorces and have conducted extensive court-ordered child custody evaluations for the Riverside County Superior Court system.

I have helped hundreds of couples recognize the hidden obstacles that cause pain in their relationship and learn the skills needed to deepen the quality of their relationship as well as resolve conflict. For over twenty five years I have been working with heterosexual and gay couples. I do not believe in a one -size- fits- all approach to therapy.
