Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Welcome to my website. As both a person and a therapist(10 years), I offer counseling that respects you, and whatever situation or condition has brought you to counseling at this time. Whether you are an individual, couple, teenager or family, finding the right counselor can be a daunting task. The key is finding a therapist you feel safe and comfortable with. To that end, I will collaborate with you: working together to determine the best therapeutic approaches that will meet your needs, and the unique challenges you are experiencing right now. Keep in mind that a good therapuetic relationship takes time. If you are going through a particularly rough or confusing time, you may feel at a loss to access your inner wisdom and your own coping resources. You may feel that your normally reliable inner compass is no longer helping you find your way. My aim, then, is to help you access your own inner wisdom, to develop your own skillful coping resources and a sense of direction. As you start, and proceed, on that path, I will offer a supportive presence of acceptance, sensitivity, and compassion - with, of course, the needed expertise and intuition provided by a clinician. In addition, I also have training in both Spiritual Psychology and Integrative Body Psychotherapy. These fields have inherent, established value and can also be included in therapy. It's important to state, though, that before introducing them into a particular client's therapy, I must strongly feel that they are applicable, and that they could provide specific benefits in regard to that client's situation and condition. And, of course, I will not include spiritual or body/mind approaches if the client does not wish to pursue them.
