Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
In a collaborative manner I work with a diverse client population to help them achieve greater personal satisfaction and to establish healthier relationships. My training as an MFT allows me to work with individuals, couples, children and familes. I work with clients that are seeking improved coping skills and reduction in emotional distress. In addition to my Master's degree I have an undergraduate degree in Child Development. I work with parenting and childhood development issues. I also guide couples towards individual exploration with the goal of helping them achieve a more honest self-awareness, greater intimacy and improved communication. I am trained to diagnosis and treat the symptoms of depression and anxiety, to address life transitions such as loss, grief, personal/professional adjustments and stress management. I have extensive experience working with children with-in school settings and foster-placement . Additional areas of focus are multi-cultural relationships, ethnicity, bi-racial and multi-racial parenting.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
