Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Therapy can be more than just talking. Somatic psychotherapy offers a new way to explore how and why you do what you do so that you can make new choices that lead to lasting change. Experiential, relational psychotherapy helps link your brain to new resources so that you can relate to yourself and others in fresh, more whole ways. My specialty is working with adult children of divorce to explore and heal their relational patterns. Often, people who grew up with persistent relational conflict as children, struggle to have satisfying, long-term relationships. I help clients work through their anger, losses and fear so they can build the family they want. I am also experienced with working adults or children who have experienced early childhood trauma due to neglect, sexual and/or physical abuse. I draw from several somatic approaches to psychotherapy including Hakomi, Sensory Awareness, and Bill Bowen's Psycho-Biomechanics. In addition to body-oriented psychotherapy, I utilize my experience and training in mindfulness meditation, Eco-psychology, Expressive Arts, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Family Systems therapy and Trauma Focused CBT for children.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
