Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I bring warmth and common sense to the therapeutic process. If you are experiencing and enduring emotional pain, struggles and ambivalence - please reach out for guidance. I care about your pursuits of self-understanding, self-acceptance and personal growth, as well as your need to have meaningful and fulfilling relationships. Confiding your thoughts and feelings takes courage - and being heard and understood is naturally healing. It is possible to approach tomorrow feeling less burdened, clearer and hopeful. I hope you'll consider connecting with me to discover how. Areas of specialties include, but are not limited to, depression/mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety, grief/loss, self-esteem, ADHD, PTSD and TBI. I offer vast experience, knowledge and guidance to adults and children confronted with the painful emotions and complexities inherent in separation, divorce and custodial issues. As a former Service Coordinator, at the North L.A. County Regional Center, I have extensive expertise, access to community resources, and an empathic understanding for families coping with the challenges related to caring for a loved one with Autistic Disorder and other developmental disabilities.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
