Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
A therapist can help you to sort out your stresses and concerns in a safe place for you to open up. Many of us experience overwhelm, fear and anxiety at times. Change can be daunting. Listening and hearing what may be unsaid, I collaborate with you toward helping you in handling your concerns, formulating your goals and crystalizing your thoughts about who you are and who you want to be. We journey together for a time, we look at your path, any roadblocks and how you might effectively manage your concerns and feel more clear and more free. Working with individuals, couples and groups, I deal with relational problems, phase of life concerns, self-esteem challenges, depression, anxiety, loss of self. With many years in the business world and the creative world, I understand the personal and professional conditions of work, company, art and design. My work is empathic, interpretive and interactive. I am mindful of how the past may inform the present; even if we are not aware of such ties. It is about moving forward. It is about freedom. It is about rising above.

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
