Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Email plewmft@verizon.net for email consulation services.

I have been working in the mental health field since 1989. I have been practicing as a Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) since 1993. I am also a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP).

In my private practice I see couples for pre-marital work, marital issues, divorce (dissolution), affair resolution, parenting work and mixed family issues. I see individuals who are struggling with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders and other personal issues to help improve their personal and vocational relationships.

As an LEP, I help struggling students improve learning strategies through study skills analysis, school consultation and psychoeducational assessment.

My experience has taught me that people who get better are those who are able to be honest with themselves/others and have the courage to change.

I am in my first marriage of 22 years and have two children. I am involved in the community and attend a local church regularly.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
