Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Perhaps you feel stuck in the same patterns of pushing and pulling with partners, avoiding emotions and shutting down, or feeling too "needy" and struggling to feel centered in yourself without someone else there to help you. We work together in the therapy relationship to help you understand these patterns of feeling and relating that are keeping you from experiencing the kind of love you want or being the person you want to be, and we transform them together. I have a warm and interactive style. I do not just sit and listen, but am active throughout the session with you, working with you collaboratively, relationally, and somatically. My Training: I am a somatic, relational, and depth oriented psychotherapist. I've been trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and am currently continuing extensive training in AEDP therapy and AEDP for Couples. These modalities aid in the healing of trauma and dissociation to promote greater feelings of safety, love, and ability to relate flexibly to others. I view the therapeutic relationship, your healing process, and your history within the larger sociopolitical context we are situated within. My practice is highly informed by thinkers and activists of intersectionality, including women of color feminism and transfeminism. My Experience: My history of working in the counseling field involves: a year at an elementary school working with children doing sand play and play therapy with them, one year at a sliding scale clinic in San Francisco working with adults with various types of issues, four years working with adolescents at an inpatient treatment center for teens with mental health and substance abuse issues, and three years of facilitating groups for adult survivors of domestic violence who also struggled with substance use. I have been at Grateful Heart Holistic Therapy Center for almost two years now, providing affordable therapy to people in the Bay Area. I am deeply grateful for all the people whom I have learned from and accompanied on a healing process. I would be honored to to accompany you in your healing process as well, should you so decide.
