Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I hep people navigating the painful feelings of crisis, trauma, or a life transition access the power within themselves to restore balance in their lives and to make empowering and meaningful change. In the safe environment of the therapy session and by focusing on immediate experiences and what matters most, I help my clients find opportunities for empowering growth in their crisis. Most of my work has been with adolescent and adult survivors of abuse as well as crisis and trauma recovery. I also facilitate large scale disaster and trauma recovery at school and work sites. "IT AIN'T LIKE WHEN THEY WERE little", is a novel psycho-educational parenting program I've co-developed for parents of adult children to help parents adjust to this different "parenting role" and to engage in more satisfying relationships with their adult children. Besides working with individuals and couples, I give workplace presentations on "managing stress and burnout"; and "communications skills for building better business relationships". "Putting It Back Together-A Consultation Group For Clinicians Working With Crisis and Trauma" is a new, open ended monthly support/consultation group starting April, 2014. I frequently offer an in-depth mixed adult gestalt process group for those wanting to learn more about how to connect better with others. "Therapy A Step Deeper" is an 8 hour psychotherapy retreat for pre-licensed therapists.

I am in private practice, delivering telemedicine via Skype and FaceTime or by phone. My area of special emphasis is helping people improve their important relationships, and working with my clients to decrease and stop depression. If you are reading this, chances are one or more of your important relationshps are not working very well. Whether it's difficulty with a partner or spouse, teens or parents, friends or co-workers, a troubled relationship is painful.
