Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, DIFFICULTIES EXPERIENCING INTIMACY?

I am a licensed psychotherapist with 20 years of experience in the Bay Area. I combine a psychodynamic framework with cognitive behavioral approaches, in a time limited or long-term treatment plan, in order to achieve fundamental changes in an individual's or in a couple's coping styles. I believe that roles are learned in early life and that difficulties are maintained in the present. My goal, as your therapist, is to provide you with a new experience of life and with a new understanding of yourself in relationship. If you are willing to examine your feelings and to consider your interpersonal issues, we can work together, as a team.

I am sensitive to diversity, women's issues, HIV related issues, personal growth and life transitions difficulties. I am especially interested in working with a diverse population, bi-cultural couples, GLBT, and acculturation issues/conflicts. I speak Spanish & Portuguese.

In San Francisco, my office is conveniently located close to the Powel Street BART station; in Oakland, across from the Rockridge BART station. Leave me a message at 1-888-339-9797; I return all calls immediately.

Are you stressed out? Do you sometimes find yourself snapping at your children? Would you describe your relationship with your husband as “distant”? Or do you feel like you are going to lose it if someone doesn’t give you a break? Being a mother, wife, or daughter can stretch us to our limits. During times like these it can feel like the world has been turned “upside down”. There is HOPE! You don’t have to figure this out alone. Let’s talk and see if I can help you make things “right side up” again.
