Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I work with children, adolescents, and their families during periods of turmoil. I will work to meet your family's needs by improving communication and teaching children safer and more positive ways of expressing their needs and coping with their feelings. I have training in play therapy. Play is how children express their feelings and ideas. Play also helps adolescents talk about things that might be uncomfortable. Using puppets, dolls, games, art, and toys, I provide a safe environment for your child to work through difficult emotions and build coping skills. I also co-facilitate Survivor To Thriver, a trauma support group for women who have been sexually assaulted or abused.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
