Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Are you in transition around your job or relationship? Although often difficult, periods of change can offer opportunities to bring your life more in alignment with what is truly authentic and fulfilling for you. I strive to create a safe, healing space for you to effectively navigate important life transitions. Relationship issues and dilemmas? I assist traditional, open/ poly + queer couples/ partners to get past blame and shame to a place of more understanding, trust and intimacy. I use EFT (Emotionally focused Therapy) combining the latest discoveries in neuroscience with powerful and effective developments in couples research. Learn how to get out of stuck places and reactive arguments faster. Learn communication skills that move you beyond "right" or "wrong" to a place of emotional understanding. Food + weight struggles? As former Director of the Eating Disorders Program at Community Institute of Psychotherapy (San Rafael) I advocate a Health at Every Size approach. It is possible to free yourself from the dieting trap and reclaim your body as your home and sanctuary. Feeling stuck or run by your past? I also work with trauma/ abuse and any stuck places using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Somatic Psychotherapy (body mindfulness) and Hypnosis with a high effectiveness rating. As a former yoga teacher and somatically trained psychotherapist one of the ways I can assist you to make lasting changes is to foster body mindfulness. I use somatic psychotherapies such as Hakomi and Somatic Experiencing to facilitate transitions and shifts that last. These approaches do not involve touch.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
