Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Are you feeling sad, depressed, anxious, or confused? Are in a relationship where you feel frustrated and are not able to “get through” to your mate/friends/family? Do you feel stuck and fed-up? Many individuals/couples are seeking help because they feel “lost in state of pain, confusion, and feel overwhelmed”. My pro-active approach is “Client-Centered and Solution Based Therapy”. I believe we make changes through awareness, compassion, non-judgment, and empowerment. The individuals and couples I have helped have shared that working towards a “plan” and being pro-active with their problems help them to feel better immediately.

Some of my specialties include: relationship and family issues, pre-marital or marital counseling, parenting, effective communication skills, pre and post divorce issues, dating, blending families, and co-parenting after divorce. Working with individuals on depression, loss, abuse and trauma, anxiety and career issues.

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
