Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Are you struggling just with getting by day to day or have chronic physical or mental health issues that are creating a feeling of “stuckness?” Perhaps you feel as if you are outside society’s construct of normal in your identity of self, attraction, and self-expression. Let’s explore together what is going on and help you develop a new way of looking at yourself and life. I can help you develop new skills for coping. - I work from an eclectic therapeutic approach to create a safe environment and empower my clients, to affect change. I approach the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative team approach allowing us to explore emotional and personal challenges. - I work with teens, adults, and elders on life issues, gender identity (TGNC), sexual & romantic attraction (LGBQ+), HIV/AIDS, sex issues, and chronic physical & mental issues. I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
