Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My work is solution focused. I work in a Family Systems Orientation to help bring context to what is happening today and a Cognitive Behavioral Orientation to help clients make adjustments in the present. Our past family experiences are important. What we learned in our family is very much related to how we do life today. But sometimes, I think, people may invest an inordinate amount of their time and resources analyzing the problems of the past. In doing so they may miss the exceptions to those problems that hold the key to change. So if you feel stuck in a problem, you might consider changing your focus to the solution. I work with clients experiencing stress and anxiety affecting school, work or family relationships. I work with all or a part of a family in developmental transitions, divorce, loss, families affected by a family members’ active substance abuse and individual issues that result from these challenges.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
