Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
The context of a person’s life has a profound effect on the quality of that life and how each person will cope with the challenges life will inevitably present.

My work with families, partners and individuals of all ages is interact and pays attention to culture, ethnicity, community expectations and families origin. At the same time, I actively work to empower clients to create a quality of life that supports both individually and interdependence and that overcomes obstacles while learning to deal with life’s limitations.

I try to do this work in a positive, personal environment where honesty and humor are hallmarks of our collaborative journey.

In my twenty-five years of private practice I have truly become a family therapist.

I am honored to work with multiple generations in the same family.

I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
