Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I work with a diverse clientele in terms of age, culture, orientation, and issues. I think that people generally have the answers to their problems within themselves and I offer a strength-based approach and a safe place to assist my clients in finding these solutions.

I provide a genuine, accepting, non-judgmental, supportive environment to assist my clients in understanding the source of their suffering and in developing skills of personal success and satisfaction.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship—the connection/rapport between client and therapist¬¬—is the foundation of successful psychotherapy and personal growth. I use an idiosyncratic style; that is, I see each individual client as unique and use that uniqueness to inform the course of therapy.

Central to my practice is mindfulness, which combined with behavioral and humanistic-existential models, contributes to a client’s ability to gain clarity regarding problems, let go of old behaviors, and take a new direction.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
