Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Hello! My name is Peggy Knodel. I have been practicing as a Marriage and Family Therapist since 1990. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychobiology from U.C.L.A. and my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from United States International University (now Alliant University). I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and adolescents. My aim is to assist clients with improving their relationships and achieving a higher quality of life. My approach is based on family systems theory which takes into account the social context of one's life including family constellation and the larger social milieu. I also use cognitive-behavioral interventions to examine one's thought processes and behavior patterns to identify where improvements might be needed. I offer a Christian-based therapeutic environment for clients who have this preference. I have been a faculty member at University of Phoenix since 2009. This is also a very fulfilling endeavor as I believe that, as an instructor, I can contribute to the ongoing positive development of students in our profession. I have been married since 1992. I enjoy cooking, gardening, learning, and laughing!
