Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
People seek psychotherapy for many reasons. It can be in response to a crisis or a desire to alleviate a problem of long duration. An exploration of origins. The negotiation of a difficult transition. Making connection to a more authentic spiritual life. The work takes form as much from the client's requirements as from the skills, experience and orientation of the therapist. My areas of expertise include working with individuals who are navigating transitions such as midlife or bereavement, those working through identity issues, those exploring or wanting to initiate exploration of spiritual experience distinct from organized religion, and couples -- gay, lesbian and heterosexual -- who are negotiating their relationships. I have extensive experience working with clients living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic conditions, as well as with caregivers. I am committed to facilitating positive change in my clients' lives. I invite you to contact me for further information.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
