Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been providing individual psychotherapy, couples counseling, marriage and family therapy, supervision, and consultation to professionals since 1986. The heart and soul of my work is an intimate dialogue that allows you to reveal to yourself what matters most to you, and helps you see what you can do to gain the confidence and have the presence of mind to progress toward meaningful change in your life. Our past invisibly influences the present. Psychotherapy can help bring into focus hidden influences from your past that shape your thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and behaviors. If you feel overwhelmed, worried, if you find yourself putting others needs before your own, if you are too hard on yourself or critical of others, if you engage in repetitious self-defeating behaviors or feel bad about yourself, I can help you become more in charge of your life. My style is warm and engaging, and my approach is direct. I get to know you, emphasize your strengths and resources, and help you find the best way to address the concerns you came in with. You define the therapeutic goals, with your success as the ultimate goal.
