Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My name is Rachel Talamantez and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, providing therapy and counseling for infants, young children, parents and adults. The foundation of my therapeutic style is based on the belief that healing and healthy development happens through relationships with others. My work focuses on "nurturing relationships", the relationship you have with yourself and with others. You might be looking at my website because you are considering therapy to either help you or someone you know that is going through a difficult time. My goal is to support you in feeling understood and "nurtured", while identifying strategies that will assist you in addressing the reason you are seeking therapy. I have worked with adults who have depression, anxiety, low-self-esteem, relationship difficulties, life transitions, parenting stress and adults who have been exposed to violence, trauma and extreme stress. If you are a parent of a young child, I have specialized training in a field called Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health. This field focuses on supporting parent-child relationships and focuses on the belief that when children develop healthy relationships with others, they will possess the skills necessary to be successful and happy in life. I have worked extensively with needs related to parent-child relationship support, post-partum depression, parental mental health issues, adoption, separation, divorce, blended families, developmental delays, learning differences, children with special needs and child behavior issues. My office is located in Santa Clara, California and I have evening and Saturday appointments available. For families with young children that are more comfortable being in their home, I am able to provide in-home therapy**. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you, please call or email me to explore whether or not the services I offer are a “fit” for your needs.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
