Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
None of us enter this world with a User’s Manual. When something goes wrong in our lives, where can we turn for help? I sometimes think of psychotherapy as an IT helpdesk for mental health related “technical problems.” My approach is kind and gentle; only in a warm and safe environment are we free explore our problems and develop solutions. For over fifteen years now I have been a licensed marriage and family therapist, working with individuals, couples, and families. I have exceptional experience with children and adolescents facing issues that include school performance, behavior, LGBTQ identity, anxiety, depression, ADHD,substance abuse, eating disorders, and PTSD. Yes, growing up is not easy. And then we grow up and recognize that being an adult is no picnic. I am also here to help couples looking for pre-marital counseling, or those in a committed relationship with difficulties in communication and intimacy. Or it may be that the entire family is in crisis. A family is a complicated system designed to support and nurture its members. Unfortunately, there’s no User’s Manual for parents, either. I believe I can help. I am the Clincial Director at the David H. Fox Counseling Center and adjunct faculty at Phillips Graduate University in Chatsworth. I hold a Master of Science degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from Cal State, Northridge. I am a life member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).

Are you stressed out? Do you sometimes find yourself snapping at your children? Would you describe your relationship with your husband as “distant”? Or do you feel like you are going to lose it if someone doesn’t give you a break? Being a mother, wife, or daughter can stretch us to our limits. During times like these it can feel like the world has been turned “upside down”. There is HOPE! You don’t have to figure this out alone. Let’s talk and see if I can help you make things “right side up” again.
