Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
It has been said that the ultimate purpose of psychotherapy is to introduce a person to herself or himself. The struggles and difficulties of life can cause us to lose touch with our true thoughts, our true feelings, our true selves and, as a result, we can become dissatisfied and unhappy living the life that we think we’re supposed to live rather than the one that we truly desire. Effective psychotherapy can reconnect us with our authentic selves and, once that has been accomplished, everything is possible. It is this principle that guides all of the work that I do with my clients. I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with nearly a decade of experience helping people deal successfully with a wide variety of concerns, including: anxiety, depression, and stress; matters of self direction, identity, and confidence; grief and loss; creative blocks and career concerns; bi-polar, panic, and eating disorders; substance abuse and addiction; and family and relationship issues. My approach to treatment is humanistic and client-centered. I work with individual adults and children, couples, and families in a safe and supportive atmosphere, helping my clients process their thoughts and feelings; reduce their stress, worry, and sadness; uncover and develop hidden strengths and increase self esteem; enhance behavioral and communication skills; identify problems and devise solutions; set and accomplish goals; and take all of the steps necessary to develop better relationships and achieve more happy and satisfying lives.
