Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My goals are to support your growth and healing, to help you feel heard and less alone in the process and to assist you in making the changes that will lead you to a happier and more authentic life. My therapeutic style is warm, thoughtful and engaged. I use a relational approach to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment, where we can collaborate and work towards your goals. I specialize in healing parent-child relationships, and in working with children and adolescents with a variety of concerns. Through training with UCSF Child Trauma Research Project, I am able to work with very young children who have experienced trauma. I also work with adults who are struggling with relationships, self-esteem, or cross-cultural issues. I’m bi-cultural and bi-lingual in Cantonese. With my background as a Chinese-American, I can be particularly helpful to clients who are having difficulties with acculturation.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
