The Resiliency Center of Santa Barbara Revel Miller, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and the Director of The Resiliency Center of Santa Barbara. He created the Center to provide a positive and safe environment with an upbeat and hopeful atmosphere that assists people to grow and improve their quality of life. He recognizes the problems and struggles that people endure. Yet he also recognizes that we have some freedom to create our own life and effectively shed the disappointments and negative past experiences that hold us back every day. The Resiliency Center of Santa Barbara is a place where patients come to learn new skills, become healthier, treat psychological wounds, overcome struggles, and start on a new path aimed toward a better life. At The Resiliency Center of Santa Barbara, life becomes more of a curious adventure as clients take on new challenges, improve their self-concept, and craft their own life story. Dr. Miller’s Professional Background Information Revel Miller, Ph.D. received his Masters and Doctorate degrees from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP, now called Alliant University). He has been state licensed since 1983 and a practicing psychologist for over 30 years. Dr. Miller has a broad professional experience. Although the majority of his work has been in private practice, he has also worked in and consulted with a number of public and private institutions and agencies. Dr. Miller has depth of experience in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Dr. Miller has been trained in a few different theoretical models of psychotherapy. Now he is eclectic and resonates most with long-term psychodynamic approaches to treatment. He also uses short-term approaches associated with cognitive behavioral methods. Dr. Miller has training and experience in individual, play, group, couples and family therapies. Dr. Miller specializes in parenting skills, caregiver support and working with the elderly. In addition, he has training in behavioral health in order to work as a collaborative psychologist with medical professionals, other allied health professionals and patients suffering with physical injuries, chronic illnesses and life-threatening diseases. Due to his extensive work in hospital based programs, he understands the medical model and is familiar with psychotropic medicines. Revel Miller is also a trained business performance coach.
