Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I see psychotherapy as an interactive process that involves both healing and exploration. It encompasses the discovery of yourself and your life in the context of relationships with others. Early childhood beliefs, family rules, intrusive traumatic life events, and the genetics and temperament with which we are born, can shape and direct us. By recognizing various patterns or habitual ways of responding to situations and others, we can begin to activate awareness, focus on and attend to inner needs, and explore both the external and internal conflicts that might either restrict our development and/or bring us to resolution. I offer many alternative ways of approaching your concerns that integrate mind, body and spirit.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
